Photochromatic (Transitions) lenses are clear indoors and automatically darken outdoors, to adjust to changing light. They reduce the effects of glare and eye fatigue. They block harmful UVA/UVB rays.

UV radiation is a major issue. In the past 10 years the Earth has lost 12% of its Ozone layer. For every percent lost, scientists register a consequential increase in cancer (4%) and cataracts (0.8%). There is increasing evidence of the cumulative effect of blue light damaging the retina and that is a contributor to age related macular degeneration (AMD) and other ocular disease.
